The idea behind the Sustainable Community is to consciously take the "long view" of our future. "Sustainable communities" are here defined as those communities whose growth and development preserve our natural and social heritage while meeting present needs in a way that does not compromise our ability to meet future needs.
The discussion on this page focuses on:
-
Cultivating a deepening appreciate and reverence of our rich natural and social heritage.
-
Promoting awareness of activities in and about Mariposa that further the sustainable ideal.
-
Developing strategy that both promoting opportunities, preserves our heritage and look to the long term health and wellbeing of the community.
It is well recognized that Mariposians are a fiercely independent breed who are vividly protectors of the land and the way of life which is Mariposa. We may not agree on the best approach to preserve our natural environment and way of life, however, we are bound together by this shared value. Add your voice as to how together we can deepen our appreciate, promote awareness and promote opportunity for a sustainable community!
